6 Month Anniversary

Yesterday was our 6 month anniversary. We really couldn't believe we had been married for 6 months. Married life is wonderful! Like I said in earlier posts, it's just so "freeing". Free to be yourself and free from temptations. Daniel has been so supportive, encouraging and loving (even when I cry for no reason- it's a girl/hormone thing!). In honor of our anniversary, we decided to eat BBQ shrimp. That was the first meal I made as a married woman. I know, I know, the shrimp were left over from the wedding, but I still made the sauce and salad.

After dinner, Daniel turned on our wedding video. I cried... and cried... and cried some more. He kept asking me, "Are you sad?" I wasn't sad, just realizing we're about to have a child and TIME IS FLYING. I'm really glad we had a videographer. If you're planning a wedding, get one! Your kids will appreciate it. I wish I had my parent's wedding on video. Side note, you're welcome for the fans! Everyone sitting had one... and was using it. It was a hot July day. Thanks for celebrating with us and making that day so special! This is the link to the blogpost about our wedding. I'm so happy I wrote all of this down.

It was a perfect day.

Here's an update on The Sims Family: We will be admitted to Woman's Hospital (not River Oaks) on Wednesday (February 1) at 5:30 P.M. They will start the inducing process, and she'll be here on Thursday! Daniel and I are incredibly anxious for her to get here. We've had some extra stressors with insurance and hospitals. That's the last thing I want to be worried about. Please continue to keep all 3 of us in your prayers. We are very excited about the gift God has given us. (James 1:17)

Isaiah 41:10 fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Matthew 11:28-29 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

Colossians 3:15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.

Lamp

New addition!
a vintage lamp
I stopped to buy a wedding gift and… found a little happy for Miss Harper. Shhh… don’t tell her daddy.

5 more days! Daniel and I are taking this weekend to relax and enjoy each other before she comes. I'm looking forward to a date night.

Happy Weekend!

Wedding Notes

Done with wedding "Thank You" notes! That has been lingering over my head since August. I love writing, so it didn't bother me. It was just finding the time to sit and write 40 at a time. It's amazing how much you can get done when you're a stay-at-home wife. I know that's all about to change, but I have been able to blog, cook and finish notes. It's wonderful. Also, please please tell me if you didn't receive a thank you note. I'll admit, I didn't write a return address on them. There were too many and... I got lazy. Sorry, mom.

Now on to baby "Thank You" notes. I'm waiting to get stationary for her. I apologize!

Nursery

DONE! DONE! DONE!

When I first got started on Harper's nursery, Daniel reminded me (again and again) that it would not look anything  like the nurseries I pinned on Pinterest.

I knew that, but had a certain image in my mind. I wanted it all white with accents of seafoam green and gold. Yeah... plans change. It turned out perfect, though! With hard work from my mom, Daniel and somewhat me, we finished it this week! Her valance rod came in Tuesday (same night as our last childbirth class). I told Daniel we wouldn't go if he would just hang the rod. He was quick to say, "OKAY!". This week's class was on breathing. We had to bring pillows. I wouldn't want to go if I were him either. After we got that hung, it was COMPLETE! Hallelujah! Although she will not be sleeping in her bed for the first months, I was still anxious about finishing. Here are some pictures of the process. I'll show the before pictures when I post about the house. Hopefully I'll get to that before she gets here.
Enjoy :)

#1 I am NOT a pink person, but I felt bad not giving her any pink. The wall color is very light. Here's a picture of mom and Daniel hanging the curtains. Thanks, grandma Jack!

Julie and Daniel lowering her bed - harder than it looks. Thanks, Julie!

I love it!

38 weeks

Isn't it beautiful? Yeah, I wish it were mine. My cousin's wife is from Columbia, South America and had it handmade. It's beautiful! Thank you for letting us borrow it, Maria!

Here we go...

Daniel and I will sit and talk in here at night. It's a sweet time.

I have a feeling after she's born and accumulates more things, this room will be full. Might take the "HLS" down.

My favorite! The letter, "H" was supposed to go over her bed, but the cadillac bed was too big for the wall. It's so pretty! I imagine the pictures in the frames will change after she's born, too.

Ah, her bed and blanket. Thanks for both, grandma Jack!

He won't be lonely for long. Thanks for the super soft bunny, Maggie Chase! We love it!

Dainty, Miss Sims

When Daniel saw where her TOMS were, he freaked. His response was, "You're going to knock all of the glitter off!" Whoa... he is already protecting Harper (even her sparkly TOMS).

One pair for the summer and one for the winter - thank you, Julie, Mrs. Mary Leta, Mrs. Michele and Anna!

Guess who? I think this was done at the Arts Festival in Clinton one year.

Harper Lee's very own "To Kill a Mockingbird" by her book-reading aunt, Jill

FYI: Harper Lee was also a Chi Omega

I love to organize and reorganize her closet

Yes, she has 18 mo. dresses. I can't stop myself.

some of her blankets and my sling

...and our little State puppy!

I had to- her first Lilly! Thanks, Jilly!

Hats, socks and panties... growing up I wore hats and those panties until I outgrew William's Store (but really). I wish I were home so I could find old pictures.

drawer of kissy kissies!

Riley and Robert have a sense of humor - her first towel
Thank you!

Last, but not least... her awesome diaper bag from Jill. (Geez, Jill... I'm glad you have a good job.) It's a Timi and Leslie - meaning, I can use it as a purse when I'm done! Done, as in we won't be having kids for a while. When we do, I can imagine their face...
"So, you blogged about Harper, monogrammed her clothes, decorated a nursery, and she has a baby book. What about me?"

I'm pretty sure I said those exact words about my oldest sister, Riley... and my dad said that to my grandmother. Tough being the 4th child (just kidding)! We will love the next just as we love Harper... just not sure I'll have time to document everything.

That's all folks! Thanks for stopping by and reading this blog. I really can't believe in 6 days she'll be here. Time is flying. Please keep us in your prayers.

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

Happy 87th Birthday!

Happy 87th Birthday to my grandmother,
Mary "June" Kennedy!

I wish you could all meet her. She never complains, but always encourages. I still enjoy getting handwritten letters from her. She solely keeps the post office in business. I am so thankful my parents named me after her.

I will always remember her great cooking skills, faithfulness to God's word (taught Sunday school for over 60 years), and her love for the Atlanta Braves. She watches every game on her new Braves channel, gets the Braves magazine and my uncle sends her the post game report (obviously, after every game). Maw-maw June is someone Daniel and I both look up to. She's the glue to our family (dad's side).

Also, I am writing this post in purple, her favorite color. Maw-maw always leaves a conversation with "Send Daniel my love." and seals a letter with, "I love you very much!"  I wish we were closer to her... and the rest of my family.
She's currently reading this on her new iPad. Now, tell me she's not cool?

P.S. I am just as thankful for my other loving grandmother, but it's not her birthday.

P.S.S. The doctor visit today was great. Nothing has changed. I'll be induced on Wednesday, February 1st (Dr is leaving for Disney on the 2nd - how fun!). I hoped he would keep me today, because it was maw-maw's birthday. That would've been really special! Thanks again for all of the encouragement!

1 week left! Daniel and I are on pins and needles. Pictures of the house and nursery to come!
